About

Owner David Stockwell is a career architect who has always had a love of food, which he inherited from his Italian grandparents. After he moved to Brooklyn 15 years ago, David began dreaming of opening a restaurant that brings people together around food, drink, and good conversation, as if you were among friends at a dinner party.

In 2016, he transformed this dream into Faun: an intimate, neighborhood restaurant with a verdant garden to provide guests with a retreat from the bustle of the city. Named after the mythical Roman creature – half-guide, half-trickster – Faun brings people together in a down-to-earth place where you can enjoy the ease of a good time with creative dishes and beverages that are at once familiar and unexpected.

As it turns out, being an architect and running a restaurant aren’t all that different: both center on confounding people with what we create with our minds and hands. Our team embodies this throughout our work: from our airy, beautifully-lit dining room and globally-inspired dishes to quirky cocktails and thoughtfully-curated wines.

As you do when you’re hosting family and friends, we bring who we are to the items we create, our space, and our service. We hope it makes you feel at home.

"This Prospect Heights haven is one that should be on everyone's radar. Adorned with cool marble surfaces and a flaming open kitchen, it is welcoming, intimate, and tranquil."

2021 MICHELIN GUIDE

"Faun; a neighborhood charmer, to be sure, but this airy, polished storefront with a long bar and seating in a lushly planted garden may well attract a wider audience..."

FLORENCE FABRICANT  |  THE NEW YORK TIMES

"Faun menu changes are frequent, but the one constant that you can rely on are the pastas. They're always creative and range from very good to "Gimme the Light..."

CHRIS STANG  |  THE INFATUATION

"And then this new restaurant just opened called Faun, and I'm crazy about it. The flavors are simple, really small menu, but everything on it is delicious."

MELISSA CLARK  |  EDIBLE BROOKLYN

"...once Faun really gets on Manhattanites' finely tuned radars, it'll be an uphill battle scoring a seat..."

JANE BRUCE  |  BROOKYLN MAGAZINE
